5 years building the future together

On Thursday 23rd November, we celebrated our foundation’s 5th anniversary, commemorating five years in which we have fought on behalf of the most disadvantaged young people and children. These have been five years filled with new opportunities, five years of challenges, and five years full of companionship and solidarity. But, above all, these five years have witnessed our ability to live up to our motto, ‘Together for the future’. Throughout our journey, we have been united and strengthened in order to build a dignified future for the very youngest.

A peaceful war

GATE was born in 2018 from the hands of ex-footballers Keko Martínez and Juan Povedano, who were committed to promoting a peaceful war against childhood poverty. In this battle, they chose football as their main weapon. Therefore, until just a few months ago, our foundation was known as ‘Gate of Football’. However, at GATE, now Gate for Children, we have evolved and shown that we can go even further.

We have our own methodology that can be applied to any area of action, either on our own or in collaboration with other organisations. This methodology is based on the development of new opportunities in a context of both physical and emotional value. Throughout our 5-year history, we have supported more than 550 children. This fact demonstrates our success in our two projects, in the Madrid neighbourhood of Pan Bendito and in Thailand. These are two areas of action in which we seek to improve the quality of children’s lives through five fundamental areas: nutrition, home, training (academic and professional), physical and emotional health.

In addition, thanks to our programmes, in 2023, we have had an impact on more than 260 children. Today, more than ever, we celebrate that we continue accomplishing our main mission: to protect the most disadvantaged children, giving them hope and new opportunities.

Thank you for these five years!

GATE, together for the future.
